SCIENTISTS HAVE DEVELOPED ULTRA SENSITIVE AMMONIA SENSOR

* SCIENTISTS HAVE DEVELOPED AN ADVANCED AMMONIA SENSING PLATFORM CAPABLE OF DETECTING HARMFUL AMMONIA GAS AT EXTREMELY LOW CONCENTRATION WHILE OPERATING AT ROOM TEMPERATURE.

* RESEARCHERS FROM CENTRE FOR NANO AND SOFT MATTER SCIENCES ( CeNS) Bengaluru, An Autonomous Institute Under Department Of Science And Technology ( DST)

* CeNS DESIGNED A HIGHLY SENSITIVE GAS SENSOR BASED ON HYBRID VANADIUM  OXIDE - VANADIUM SULFIDE ( VOx/VS2) HETEROSTRUCTURE.

* IT BUILD THROUGH A CONTROLLED SURFACE TRANSFORMATION PROCESS THAT CREATES ABUNDANT ACTIVE SITES FOR AMMONIA ADSORPTION WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY ENHANCING CHARGE TRANSPORT WITH IN THE SENSING LAYER.

* THE DEVELOPED SENSOR DEMONSTRATED EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE, DETECTING AMMONIA CONCENTRATION AS LOW AS 319 PARTS PER BILLION ( ppb) 

* IT'S ULTRALOW DETECTION CAPABILITY, THE SENSOR EXHIBITED EXCELLENT SENSITIVITY AGAINST OTHER COMMON GASES, 

* THE RESEARCH TEAM LED BY PROFESSOR ANGAPPANE SUBRAMANIAN 

* THE DEVICE AUTOMATICALLY CLASSIFIES ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION INTO SAFE, WARNING AND DANGER ZONES 

* FLEXIBLE AND WEARABLE OF THE SENSOR WERE SUCCESSFULLY FABRICATED ON POLYMER, PAPER AND TEXTILE SUBSTRATES.
